In flowery pastels and with fragrant blossoms, ‘Blumen für die Kunst’ invites visitors to the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau (Switzerland) at the beginning of Spring. For the key visual of 2023, the Swiss master florist Ondrej Vystrcil has florally interpreted a work by the contemporary artist Rolf Winnewisser and underlined its delicate colouring with soft light.
The popular public Flowers to Arts exhibition features 14 interpretations of classical to contemporary works from the renowned collection of Swiss art. It features florists, flower designers and young talents from all parts of Switzerland, plus the international star florist Johann Obendrauf from Austria. The ninth edition will take place from 7 to 12 March 2023. Advance booking starts on 16 January.

Visual 2023 by Ondrej Vystrcil
Ondrej Vystrcil has already participated twice in Blumen für die Kunst at the Aargauer Kunsthaus. Now the master florist from Bremgarten has the honour of creating the lead visual for the ninth edition. For this, he has translated a work by the artist Rolf Winnewisser from 2020 in a fresh and cheeky way. In addition to spring florals, his interpretation uses artificial flowers, colourful plastic folders and led lamps. It will be interesting to see what interpretations the other 13 floristry teams come up with.
Star guest Johann Obendrauf
In 2023, visitors of the exhibition can look forward to 14 floral interpretations that continue the dialogue with classical to contemporary works from the collection of the Aargauer Kunsthaus in a surprising and sensual way. A bright highlight will be star florist and World Cup participant Johann Obendrauf, who moves on the international floristry stage and puts on large flower shows. His work will be the subject of the international floristry exchange with the Swiss master florist Philipp von Arx. Moderation: Rudolf Velhagen, art historian.
Tandem tours, talks and workshops
The rich programme accompanying the exhibition includes the tandem tours, each with a representative from art history and floristics; they have already achieved cult status. The programme also includes top-class artist talks and flower workshops for adults and families. Lovers of Swiss designer products will find a small but fine assortment of accessories and postcards in the shop of the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
