After having been closed for months due to the pandemic, FloriWorld is reopening as of 1 July! The innovative attraction in the Netherlands invites people from around the world to experience flowers and plants in a way they never have before.
What does FloriWorld offer
FloriWorld is a relatively new flower-themed attraction in the Netherlands, located right at the famous Aalsmeer Flower Auction. The indoor attraction park teaches people of all ages about the industry and flower auctions, in a unique, immersive way. Fourteen different shows starring both real and virtual flowers and plants are part of the exhibit.
Visitors go on a high-tech journey of discovery into the world of flowers and plants. One illustrative example: when you arrive at the experience centre, you receive a customised RFID wristband. Do you love peonies, or do you happen to be crazy about purple anemones? Your wristband will personalise your FloriWorld experience, causing your favourite flowers to pop up everywhere!
Artful arrangements by various star florists decorate the big event space. Other attractions include a funny 4D film about a groom who forgets the bridal bouquet on his way to the wedding, and a range of hip Instagram-ready selfie booths. And throughout the venue, you can watch thousands of gorgeous, freshly cut flowers glide past on the ‘FloriRail’.
Off to a rocky start
The timing for the launch of FloriWorld was unfortunate, in hindsight. The new experience centre only opened its door to the public about a year ago, on 1 July 2020. It had to close just four months after already, because of the rapidly spreading threat of COVID-19.
That false start is behind us, however. The FloriWorld team looks forward to welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors in the coming years.
