The seminar will cover the first basic level of training in professional floral design assessment. Participants will be explained all the main elements of floral design judging, and engage in practice sessions with live flower arranging to illustrate those principles.

Topics that will be covered include, for example, Florint’s 100-point system of floral design evaluation; the use of different methods and approaches in floristry assessment; analysis and discussion of competition designs, and the qualitative and educational aspects of refereeing.

The teachers of the seminar are Jan van Doesburg and Erik van Heijst, two highly experienced florists and floristry tutors who are professors at STOAS University in the Netherlands. The seminar location is the Starlight cash & carry Flower Center in Moscow.

At the end of the seminar, students will receive an official certificate from International Florist Organization (FLORINT) and the EFDA (European Floral Design Academy). The diploma certifies that they have successfully completed the first step of the training program to become an accredited European Floral Design Judge.

The organizer of the Judges Certification seminar in Moscow is Russian online floristry magazine IAMFLORIST.com, with the support of Russia’s National Guild of Florists – the member organisation of International Florist Organisation Florint in the Russian Federation.

Courses about Florint’s Judges Certification system are also being organized around the upcoming Europa Cup 2016 in Genoa, Italy. Aspiring judges who have completed the basic training can even take part in a follow-up ‘Shadow Judging the Europa Cup’ seminar!
