Germany’s FDF organises successful Florint Judges Certification assessment

fdf judgcert

In mid-May, German florist association FDF invited its members to take part in “National JudgCert Qualification 2019” – an examination for florists who want to become certified floral design assessors under Florint’s professional judging system. Seven instructors and examiners from all over Germany successfully completed the top-level assessment!

The Judges Certification assessment took place under the guidance of an experienced Assessment Committee, led by Marianne Wieler, head of the Weihenstephan State School of Flower Art and the FLORNET education network. FDF training experts Gerda Prinz, Heike Damke-Holtz and Thomas Ratschker (also Florint’s Jury President) developed the contents of the four-day workshop.

The assessment process designed by Florint is very challenging and thorough. During the course, participants have to analyse the development process of complex floral workpieces; reflect on and present their results, as well as simulate professional examinations and interviews.

All seven German participants had been working for a long time as trainers or examiners, plus possess a lot of competition and juror experience. Nevertheless, without exception, they confirmed that attending this assessment was a very meaningful experience. They learned a lot and expected they would assess exam pieces in a much more complex and technical way in the future.

Lots of praise for the Judging System Florint developed

The participants commended Florint’s analysis sheets and 100-points system as a highly valuable instrument for judging in competition situations. Their praise confirms what we already know, thankfully: that Florint has created a system that truly is, and deserves to be, the worldwide standard in professional floral design judging.

We are very glad to see our member associations confirm that the JudgCert program offers genuine added value! Ten countries have already held assessments, and more than 100 professional florists have thereby been accredited as “National Certified Judge in Floristry Design”.

Craftsmanship & Education for florists

‘JudgCert’ is part of a collection of tools that Florint has developed to professionalise and standardise floral design education and craftsmanship. A lot of this hard work has been done together with Florint’s partners, united in the European Platform on Floristry Vocational Education & Training (EPFVET).

The themes Craftsmanship and Education are, together, one half of Florint’s strategic vision. The other two key themes are Entrepreneurship and Marketing. Florint aims to support florist associations worldwide by offering added value on these important challenges for florists.
