Europa Cup of Floristry

Florint has organized a European Florist Championship, also called the ‘Europa Cup’ of Floristry, since 1967. The contest serves as a comparison in craftsmanship and style between florists from different countries, while simultaneously stimulating innovation and promoting the florist’s image to the public. All of which we consider to be very important!

The upcoming Europa Cup 2020:

Poland will be organizing the Europa Cup 2020! The impressive championship plan drafted by Polish Florist Association Stowarzyszenie Florystów Polskich was accepted by the General Assembly of Florint in November of 2016. The Europa Cup 2016 in Genoa:

On 8 & 9 April 2016, the European Florist Championship 2016 took place at the impressive ‘Magazzini del Cotone’ exhibition and conference centre in Genoa (Italy). It was an absolutely spectacular Europa Cup, with amazing floristry on display and a fantastic atmosphere in general. It was quite possibly the most successful championship Florint has ever organized! Click the image below for our elaborate press release, which details everything that happened in Genoa and, of course, who won the European Championship!

General Europa Cup Info:

The European Florist Championship helps to compare the skills and creativity of floral designers originating from various, primarily European, countries, putting the continent’s absolute best in the spotlight. Additionally, the championship allows these florist professionals to get to know the latest trends and techniques in floristry. It thereby functions as an important stimulus for innovation in floral design.

The contest simultaneously helps to promote the florist’s image to the public and to spread the joy of flowers. It, thereby, helps to promote the consumption of flowers and plants as well. This type of publicity is invaluable to a sector like ours!

As a general rule, the Europa Cup takes place every four years. Exceptions are permissible, if the situation demands them, and are decided on a case by case basis by the Florint General Assembly.

Participation in the Europa Cup:

One florist from each Florint member country is allowed to take part in the Europa Cup. In some cases, florists from non-member countries may also be accepted. This is accepted on a case-by-case basis by Florint’s Direction Committee, the Europa Cup organisers, and the other member associations of Florint. With the increasing internationalisation of Florint, the championship has slowly grown beyond what would traditionally be considered the borders of Europe. The Europa Cup of 2016, for example, included participants from Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The Europa Cup contestants are nominated by Florint’s member associations; the members of Florint. In countries where there is no member organisation of Florint yet, the Fleurop-Interflora Unit of the country concerned – or another organisation representing professional florists – may put forth a candidate. Such applications should be addressed to the Direction Committee of Florint.
