This year, the organizers announced the winners of the Barcelona World Flower Cup at the Europa Cup in Genoa. “It was a great honour to present the BWFC at the European Championship and to announce the winners on stage” says the director of the Escola d’Art Floral i Paisatgisme de Barcelona, Roser Bofill, and emphasizes: “We were especially pleased that the winner, Iza Tkaczyk, was able to accept the trophy in person.”
The competitors had to create a bridal bouquet and a free style object (max. 1m3). They have to take pictures of their work and submit them to the BWFC website. Apart from the main contest, the #BePopular contest was also held for the second time, based on a Facebook challenge: the bouquet with the most likes wins an award.
The BWFC is still young – the competition was held for the third time in 2016. It is organized by the Escola d’Art Floral i Paisatgisme de Barcelona. A novel introduction this year was the Junior Cup (up to 25 years of age). Since 2012, many florists from different countries have taken part in the competition: Mexico, Israel, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Iran, United States, Austria, Belgium, etc.
Worldwide, it is the first online contest in Floral Design aimed at allowing young students and professionals in the field of floristry to show their creative ideas. An internationally renowned jury evaluates each work.
