From the 24th to the 25th of September of this year the German Championship of Floristry takes place. Eleven finalists, Germany’s best Floral Designers, are currently preparing themselves for their participation in this so-called 'Golden Rose' event. The Championship is the most spectacular German flower design competition of the year, and situated in a beautiful setting. It will take place at Landesgartenschau Bad Nauheim, a big public gardening show, located about 40 km from Frankfurt.
During the contest the finalists will have to arrange five flower designs in the span of two days. The competition consists of a number of disciplines, all of which will be accessible to the public. The Landesgartenschau Bad Nauheim, which hosts the contest, is a major public gardening event, taking place from April till October of 2010. The 28th German Championships will be the ‘flowering’ highlight of this immense gardening show.
The contestants of the Golden Rose are the winners of the county-level competitions in Germany: all of them have qualified themselves in these contests over the last months. The winner of the Golden Rose, who will be announced on the evening of the 25th of September during an exclusive florist-gala, will be the new German Master of Floral Design for the next two years. This also authorizes him to participate in the European Cup of Floral Design in September 2011.
