Membership types

Florint has always had one general type of member (the regular ones) and a contribution system with partly the same amount for all (the basic contribution) and partly an amount based on the assumed strength of the associations, by linking it to the number of members they have. In the course of time there have been minor changes to the contribution system. Quite some years ago a new type of membership was introduced for primarily the florist associations in Eastern Europe; the candidate membership, with a fixed and somewhat lower contribution. In recent times there were good reasons for yet another change, regarding membership types as well as the contribution system.

On the one hand there are applications for “membership” coming from countries where a regular florist association does not exist. It is seen as positive for Florint as well as these countries if a solution can be found which offers them prospects for a future regular membership and helps them develop, giving them access to activities, competitions, information and contact with their peers. On the other hand there is currently a diversity of member organizations within the same membership category, resulting in varied wants and needs and expectations towards Florint, which complicates matters. For those reasons Florint created more possibilities for choice as to the type of membership, so that it may better suit each group’s intentions and interests:

1.       the gold membership, for the key members, the strong associations, whose commitment is immense and which assure their participation in the European competitions and most other activities up front.  They pay a slightly higher contribution, which entitles them to more added value, like free entry to all competitions and lower rates or other advantages.

2.       the regular membership, for those national florist associations that don’t always have the means to enter into competitions and other activities and want the freedom of choice. They pay a smaller contribution, but pay an entry fee whenever they do take part in competitions and have less advantages.

3.       the candidate membership for national florist associations, meant for newcomers that want some time to get to know the advantages of being affiliated with Florint. They pay an even lower contribution, but need to pay a higher entry fee for competitions and sometimes other activities.

4.       the candidate membership non-assoc., for countries where a regular national florist association does not yet exist. It gives relevant other organisations, like a regional florist association, an interflora or similar organisation, or a commercial firm access to activities, competitions, information and contact with their peers. An organisation in all cases with the intention to put efforts into the development of a national florist association, which in the future is to be the member of Florint. They also pay a lower contribution, but need to pay a higher entry fee for competitions and sometimes other activities.
