Lobbying in Brussels
Florint is the only representative body of the flower retail trade, recognized as such by the European Commission. Nowadays, florists are increasingly being confronted with decisions and legislation made in Brussels. It is the task of Florint to try to positively influence these decisions. To do so, Florint has a network of contacts within the offices of the European Commission as well as with other relevant organisations. The organisation represents the sector in the Advisory Committee Flowers and Plants of DG Agri and also has a seat in the Standing Group on Promotion.
Florint has strategic alliances with other international or European interest groups, such as Union Fleurs, the international organisation for flower wholesalers. Moreover, Florint is a member of the European umbrella organisation EuroCommerce, which is an important partner for the European Commission in a.o. the social dialogue. EuroCommerce represents the retail
, wholesale and international trade sectors in Europe. Its members include commerce federations in 31 countries, European and national associations representing specific commerce sectors and individual companies. Florint has a seat in the committees for small and medium-size enterprises, for social affairs, for internal market and consumers and for fiscal affairs.
