Well-educated employees and entrepreneurs are the foundation for success in any business. That’s why Florint has had a strong focus on vocational training for a long time.
In 2004 an extensive inquiry was done into the status of vocational education in the affiliated countries. The report that resulted from this investigation clearly illustrated the resemblances, but also the differences and problems. On the basis of this report the actual policy was confirmed: to put the professional education for florists in a European perspective and put effort into the development and harmonisation of vocational training.
A first project undertaken in this field was the "European Master in Floral Design", for which subvention was granted by the Leonardo da Vinci fund. This project, completed in 2001, resulted in having a European masters course and masters degree. Recently, the initiative has been taken to renew this European Master with the aid of the University of Twente (NL).
Meanwhile there is intensive co-operation between Florint and a network of floristry training institutes in more than 20 countries, called “Flornet”. This network of participating schools organises, exchanges and disseminates educational knowledge.
Another education project is “Knowledge exchange”. Its aim is to help member countries to build up their educational systems. Various train-the-trainers courses have been carried out in the meantime, based upon the Dutch educational system DFA / ADFA.
